Studio Pieter Stockmans

Piet Stockmans (1940) is one of Flanders most renowned contemporary artists and Flemish cultural ambassadors.
In 1987 he established Studio Pieter Stockmans. The studio specialises in the production of handmade articles and original works of art and it concentrates its activities in 4 themes thema’s:

1. The studio collection
Design and production of porcelain tableware.
This collection is produced in the studio in limited series and distributed to design- and museum shops in Europe, Japan, Australia and the USA.
2. Art
Production of art by Piet Stockmans, and on order by other artists.
3. Stockmans porcelain
Production of porcelain designs by various designers with the brand name “Stockmansporselein”.
4. Industrial design
Design of dinner services and porcelain jewellery for foreign clients.

Since 1997 Stockmans' daughter has been a partner in the Stockmans project. Together they are exploring the boundaries of the possibilities porcelain has to offer artists. Stockmans is well known for his ultra-thin, almost transparent creations.
