There is no better way to forget the winter blues than to have a party!
That is why there are 1 May celebrations.

In the meantime 1 May has become an annual event in Genk and far beyond its borders. Each year this special event attracts thousands of visitors and lasts all day.

In the period immediately preceding and following this day there are plenty of peripheral activities.

Apart from traditional activities such as the annual market, the planting of the maypole, a fair and fireworks, there is the O-Parade.

The O-parade, or the parade of amazement, is the highlight of the day.
